Research Opportunities
The Raza Bioinorganic Chemistry Lab actively involves undergraduate researchers at every stage of the research process. Students gain hands-on experience working at the interface of synthetic inorganic chemistry and biological systems, with projects spanning molecular design, spectroscopy, and disease-relevant bioinorganic chemistry.
Current research projects include:
1. Metal-based photodynamic and immuno-therapeutic systems
2. Metallocofactor-dependent processes in viral disease
3. Spectroscopic and mechanistic studies of metal-biomolecule interactions
Students in the lab develop practical laboratory skills, learn how to analyze and interpret data, and gain exposure to how fundamental chemistry informs biological function and human health.

Who Should Apply
The lab welcomes chemistry and biochemistry majors interested in how molecules function in biological environments. Prior research experience is helpful but not required. Motivation, reliability, and interest in learning are essential.
Students interested in inorganic chemistry, photochemistry, chemical biology, or bioinorganic mechanisms are encouraged to reach out.

How to Get Involved
Interested students should contact the PI with a brief description of their academic background and interests.
